Statement on Working Conditions, Discrimination, and Retaliation

The CMA issued a statement in response to the November 30, 2022 The Nation article entitled “The Minnesota Workers Who are Still Searching for Justice”. This article described unsafe working conditions for archaeologists performing professional services.

Petition for the African American Burial Grounds Preservation Act

In February of 2022, the CMA signed a petition organized by the Coalition for American Heritage for the protection of African American burial grounds. The coalition lobbied successfully throughout 2022, and Congress passed the African American Burial Grounds Preservation Act as part of the 2023 omnibus appropriations bill.

Letter to the MPCA about the Red Rock Quarry and Laurentz Quarry Projects

The CMA sent a letter to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in December of 2020 regarding two quarry development efforts within Southwestern Minnesota’s Red Rock Ridge near the Jeffer’s Petroglyphs Historic Site in Cottonwood County.
